What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are special cells in your body that act like your body’s repair team- they help fix and restore damaged tissues. What makes them unique is that they can make copies of themselves and also turn into other types of cells - such as bone, cartilage, tendon, or muscle. They also help healing by reducing inflammation, improving blood flow, and supporting tissue repair.
Stem cells are found throughout the body. For orthopedic treatments, the most common sources are bone marrow and fat (adipose) tissue. These tissues don’t just contain live stem cells - they also have a heterogenous mixture of therapeutic cells, growth factors, and proteins that all work together to promote healing.
Adult stem cells are found among differentiated cells in tissues and can generate different cell types for the specific tissue in which they live. In orthopedics, we use a specific type of adult stem cell called the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC). MSCs are especially important because they help repair connective tissues and can develop into bone, cartilage, or tendon cell
BIOEVOLVE offers two different kinds of cellular therapies that can be used to treat orthopedic conditions: bone marrow-derived cells (BMAC) and adipose-derived cells (MFAT) These treatments are minimally invasive, non-surgical treatments performed in a doctor's clinic using only local anesthesia.

Bone Marrow Aspiration Concentrate (BMAC)
Bone marrow-derived cells are collected from the back of the pelvic bone. The marrow contains mesenchymal stem cells which have the ability to renew themselves and differentiate into bone, tendon, cartilage and muscle cells. BMAC also contains important therapeutic cells, growth factors and proteins that stimulate the body's natural ability to improve circulation, decrease inflammation and heal injured tissues.
Microfragmented Adipose Tissue Cells (MFAT)

Adipose-derived cells are collected from a fat sample from the buttock, waist, or abdomen. There is minimal manipulation of the tissue with no enzymatic digestion or addition of other biological or pharmacological agents. Fat or adipose tissue is rich in healing cells like mesenchymal stem cells or MSCs, growth factors and other proteins that can assist in healing tissues.
The cells derived from bone marrow and adipose (fat) tissue produce molecules that direct other healing cells to go the injured region to form new blood vessels, stimulate other stem cells, and stimulate proliferation of other cells to produce healthy tissue.
FDA Compliant
Our biologic treatments using blood, bone marrow or adipose tissue are compliant with FDA regulations. They are performed on the same day, minimally manipulated and falls under the Same Surgical Procedure Exemption. We only use biologics that are autologous (obtained from the same individual) and do not use those that are obtained from donated fluids or tissues which includes embryonic stem cells or donor stem cells derived from amniotic fluid or other birth tissue products. With these cells, there is a risk of disease transmission or immune reaction. The donor tissues are sterilized to minimize the risk of disease transmission, but living stem cells do not survive the sterilization process therefore no live stem cells have been found in these products. We only use your own cells derived from your own bone marrow or adipose (fat) tissue.
